What is BOTOX?

BOTOX® Cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA) is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to temporarily improve the look of both moderate to severe crow’s feet lines, frown lines between the eyebrows and forehead lines in adults. Botulinum toxin blocks nerve activity in the muscles causing a temporary reduction in muscle activity, therefore reducing the appearance of wrinkles.
The procedure takes only a few minutes in the office. The medication is injected with a very fine needle in very small amounts. It takes on average 5 to 7 days to take effect. Full effect is seen in two weeks. The effects of Botox Cosmetic can usually last three to four months
